I was cleaning out my desk of all my old papers when I stumbled across a paper I had written for my high school history class. Now, normally I wouldn’t have given this a second thought, but the subject of this particular paper was of interest to me. The class was actually pretty good, it was not just memorizing dates and times, but about why history happened and what it meant for us today.
The title of the paper was “Footbinding: a Contemporary View on a Traditional Practice.” Now the entire class had been forced to write a paper taking a historical (although sometimes still current) practice or ritual and write about it by applying today’s standards/beliefs/morals on it.
