It’s the night before All Hallow’s Eve, in the dark…
And the beasties and ghoulies are out for a lark,
There is creaking and groaning in every direction;
The cobwebs festoon all the trees to perfection.
And the clouds give the silver-white moon quite a chase,
But they cannot prevent him from showing his face,
The effect of his gaze on the landscape below
Is a faint iridescent and creepy glow.
And into the night, if you walk you might hear
Sounds that curdle your blood and fill you with fear,
Is it the gasps of the dead long forgotten?
Perhaps flesh being torn from bones that are rotten?
The streets are deserted the trees are all bare
And the night leaves a definite chill in the air…
Dry leaves crackle and scuttle along in the breeze
And a sinister growl makes you weak in the knees.
Just there, past the grave-yard and off to the right
Is a cottage whose windows are softly alight;
The shutter is loose and it bangs on the wall
As the wind kicks up a furious squall.
A soft, haunting melody drifts from the place
You feel out of breath, like you’ve run a long race…
You’re compelled to come closer; no will of your own
Could stop you from creeping across that lawn.
For you must face your demons, conquer your fears
If you want peace of mind for the rest of your years.
Take a breath, face the window—there’s nowhere to hide
Draw strength, gather courage and look inside…
The most beautiful woman you’ve ever seen
With tresses of gold, and eyes of green.
Lies naked and sprawled upon her bed,
Oh my God, can it be? Is she really dead?
Your heart starts to hammer; you’re not really sure
If the whimpers are coming from you or from her.
But then through the night comes a soft cry; a moan
You look closer and see that she’s holding a phone…
HA! I GOT YOU! SHE’S NOT BEING HEXED!
