I was cleaning out my desk of all my old papers when I stumbled across a paper I had written for my high school history class. Now, normally I wouldn’t have given this a second thought, but the subject of this particular paper was of interest to me. The title of the paper was “Footbinding: a Contemporary View on a Traditional Practice.” Now the entire class had been forced to write a paper taking a historical (although sometimes still current) practice or ritual and write about it by applying today’s standards/beliefs/morals on it.
